What to Expect When Working With Us
STEP ONE: Discover Meeting

(~45 minutes)

This is our opportunity to truly get to know you—your life, your family, your work, your values, and your relationship with money. We often say that in order to guide you effectively, we need to know enough to do for you what you would do for yourself if you knew what we know.

In this conversation, we’ll explore what matters most to you, what you’re working toward, and what challenges or opportunities lie ahead. We’ll also gather the financial details we need so that any plan we create is not only accurate, but deeply aligned with your real life.

At the same time, you’ll get a clear sense of what it’s like to be a client at HWM, what you can expect from us, how we communicate, and how we’ll partner with you over time.

Our aim is simple: to create the foundation for a relationship rooted in trust, connection, and clarity, and to ensure that our approach aligns with what you want for your future.

STEP TWO: Investment Plan Meeting

(~60 minutes, typically one week later)

Between Step One and Step Two, we bring together what we’ve learned about your goals and resources with our decades of experience and the evidence-based principles that guide our investment philosophy.

In the Investment Plan Meeting, we’ll walk you through both our investment philosophy and a personalized investment plan designed to give you the strongest possible path toward achieving what matters most to you. You’ll also have plenty of time to ask questions about the plan, our process, our firm, and what it’s like to work with us.

These meetings are designed to give you the clarity you need to make an informed decision—and to help us both determine whether a long-term partnership feels like the right fit.

So we can prepare effectively, we’ll ask you to upload the relevant financial documents ahead of time through our secure online portal.

STEP THREE: Onboarding & Transfer

We’ll guide you through e-signing contracts, account setup and asset transfers, ensuring every detail is handled accurately and efficiently.

You’ll have full visibility into your accounts throughout the process, and our team will keep you informed each step of the way.

STEP FOUR: Financial Wellness Kickoff Meeting

(~60 minutes, typically scheduled a few weeks after your accounts are opened and funded)

We’ll present your customized financial plan and Financial Action Checklist, which contains our recommendations based on the information and documents you’ve shared.

This meeting sets the foundation for your long-term success and ensures you feel confident about your next steps.
